  • WHAT IS HOSPICE?
    Hospice is a specialized care for people who have a terminal illness. Instead of trying to cure the disease, hospice is foused on comfort care, emotional and spiritual support for patients and families.
  • HOW MUCH DOES HOSPICE COST?
    Hospice care is 100% covered by Medicare Part A or Medi-Cal. This includes services such as nursing, certified home health aide, medical social worker visits, and spiritual care. As well as medical supplies, medical equipment, and supplies related to the terminal illness. California Mission Hospice also takes Cal-Optima insurance.
  • WHEN IS IT TIME FOR HOSPICE?
    Patients should consider hospice when medical treatments can no longer cure their disease or when the burden of treating symptoms outweighs the benefits of treatment.   • HOW OFTEN WILL HOSPICE CARE PROVIDERS VISIT ME?
    The California Mission Hospice care team works with patients and caregivers to determine the frequency and types of services needed. Typically the number of hospice service visits increases as the patients illness progress and their needs increase.
  • HOW CAN I ARRANGE TO RECEIVE HOSPICE SERVICES?

  • WHAT HAPPENS IF MY CONDITION IMPROVES?
    If a patients condition improves or the disease goes into remission, the patient can be discharged from hospice care and returned to regular medical treatment. Patients have the right to stop hospice care, for any reason. If a patient needs to return to hospice in the future, the patients services can be resumed if they are elegible for hospice.
  • HOW IS HOSPICE DIFFERENT FROM HOME HEALTH CARE?
    Home Health Care focuses on the recovery of an illness or injury of the patient. Visits consist of medical treatment, physical therapy, etc. Hospice Care focuses on keeping the patient comfortable as symptoms of a terminal illness progresses. Hospice Care also provides emotional and spiritual support for both the patient and family in addition to medical visits focused on comfort.

    California Mission Hospice is available 24/7. We have nurses on call that respond within minutes if necessary.

    Yes. Hospice services can be provided to patients wherever he or she resides.
